KrAZ will cope with any emergency.

“AvtoKrAZ” Holding Company was visited on April 14, 2009, by the Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations and Population protection from Chernobyl’ disaster consequences, V.Baranchuk, Deputy Director of the Department for material and technical support, A.Volodin, Head of Chief Administration of the Ministry for Emergency Situations in Poltava region, A. Orlikovskiy, principal engineer of “Pojspetsmash”, A.Redkach. This visit concerns implementation of program for providing the MES units with the domestic truck KrAZ.

In the course of the visit MES officials familiarized themselves in details with modern models of the KrAZ trucks which can be used for emergency response. The visitors could see plant shops, new technologies area provided with high-precision equipment, modern robotic centers and main assembly line. Plant training centre fitted with high-tech equipment aroused keen interest of the visitors.

The KrAZ trucks possibilities were shown to the MES officials on the only in Ukraine demonstration and testing centre of the automobile plant. Kremenchug all terrain vehicles easily negotiated obstacles and excited unstinted admiration from the visitors.

Having passed Victor Baranchuk had an opportunity to appreciate power and cross-country ability of the domestic truck. After having overcome the obstacles in person on the KrAZ-6322 truck he expressed a high opinion of Ukrainian truck. He said: “Today we had a good opportunity to see all automotive vehicles manufactured by KrAZ. I visited a lot of plants abroad, but, honestly speaking, I never saw the like in KrAZ. As it usually is we look for something abroad and don’t see what is available at home. I’m sure KrAZ is godsend for MES which is not used so far.

For that reason a purpose of the visit, first and foremost, is to step forwards to domestic producer of the unique, in my opinion, automotive engineering.

We agreed a united approach to submit for consideration to the Prime Minister and the President to restore traditions of state-guaranteed orders on the products of “AvtoKrAZ”. As state’s duty is to save people I believe this duty should be done properly. The present day KrAZ is not the only manufacturer of heavy duty trucks, it is also the truck which can cope with any emergency.

This day MES is gradually changing over to the products of the domestic producer and intends to go on with it. MES needs rescue vehicles as well as tipper trucks – “KrAZ” serial products, to use them for flood response, dam stabilization and other works. Tank trucks are needed, too, therefore 8-t tanks mounted on KrAZ chassis that’s just what is necessary.

The main task of MES is to support and grant protection to domestic producer of the trucks to ensure quality and efficient population protection in emergency situations.

Such Manufacturers as KrAZ should be entitled to bid as exclusive contractor. It’s a world practice, when, for instance, Swedish Minister of Economics gives exclusivity to Volvo as to the only contractor. MES should be the customer buying vehicles of the exclusive contractor, domestic producer, to provide their units with them.

V.Baranchuk has also mentioned high performance of the KrAZ special vehicles and efficient fire fighting as compared with other makes MES has in arsenal.
