New cabover dump truck KrAZ C20.0 is a “star” of “KrAZ-2009” Motor Show.

Holding Company “AvtoKrAZ” held its traditional fifth “KrAZ-2009” Motor Show in Kremenchug, on June, 28, 2009.

Within the frameworks of the motor show, it was arranged the exposition including production trucks manufactured by Kremenchug automobile plant, KrAZ trucks with special structures mounted by other enterprises, retro-automobiles and KrAZ show-stoper “Krazy”.

The “star” of the motor show 2009 has become a new promising dump truck KrAZ C20.0 (6x4) with carrying capacity of 20 tons with “cabin over engine” layout diagram. New frame and panel cabin is the original elaboration of the “KrAZ” designers. The dumper is equipped with engine YAMZ-6501.10 (Euro 3), single-disc clutch MFZ 430 and gear box 9JS200TA. It has new construction of the rear wheels centerpoint suspension, new front axle, integrated steering device and a wide range of the other engineering changes not to have been applied to KrAZ trucks earlier. New cabin has high ergonomics of the driver’s seat, modern dashboard, designated for different engine installation including V-type engines, adapted for right steering installation.

With the new cabover dump truck KrAZ C20.0 appearing on the square, it was a furor to be created immediately after the press conference had been over. Ceremonial demonstration of the new truck was met by the visitors with a storm of applause and cries of joy, journalists’ numerous flash guns arrived from various CIS countries.

Among new models 2009 there are: tractor KrAZT17.0EX “Burlak” (“Hauler”) with 6x6 axle arrangement, dump truck KrAZ-C18.0 “Gornyak” (“Miner”) (6x4) and chassis KrAZ-H30.0 EX (8x6).

- new truck tractor KrAZT17.0EX “Burlak” (“Hauler”) has more heavy power unit significantly improving the truck towing performances such as: eight-cylinder engine YAMZ-6581.10-06 Euro3 with 400 h.p. capacity (comp. KrAZ-6446: YAMZ-238ДЕ2 with 330 h.p. capacity) and nine-speed gear box YAMZ-2391.

The truck is able to transport cargo of 65 t by semitrailer and maximum saddle loading of 17 t (comp. KrAZ-6446: semitrailer full weight of 34 t, saddle loading of 11 t). Instead of mechanical, integrated steering device with hydraulic booster lowering the steering wheel effort to 8 kgs.

- dump truck KrAZ-C18.0 “Gornyak” (“Miner”) is a fundamental upgrading of KrAZ-65055 with increased carrying capacity of 18 tons, equipped with a powerful six-cylinder engine Cummins ISLe 375 30 Euro3 and nine-speed gear box 9JS150TA-B with crawler gear. The application of this power unit has sufficiently increased truck towing performances under hard operation. Rear suspension is also upgraded: without balance shaft, strengthened 4th frame cross member allowing to increase carrying capacity from 15 to 18 t at the expense of trailing bogie load increasing and to improve truck reliability. Extended visor platform is of 12 m? capacity, strengthened bottom and sides.

- new heavy-duty chassis KrAZH30.0EX 8x6 is of 30 tons capacity and equipped with eight-cylinder engine YAMZ-6581.10-06 Euro 3 with 400 h.p. capacity (KrAZ-63221: YANZ-238ДЕ2 of 330 h.p., gear box YAMZ-2381 and clutch YAMZ-183), single-disc clutch and gear box YAMZ-2391, clutch YAMZ-184, gear box YAMZ-2391 with crawler gear. This combination allows increasing the truck towing and dynamic performances. Chassis has the first and fourth steering axles and 1, 2 and 3 driving axles. Installed frame length is extended for 1740 mm at the expense of steering axle behind the bogie. Integrated steering device, instead of mechanical, allows reducing steering wheel effort to 10 kgs that significantly reduces the driver’s tiredness.

New trucks have new notation introduced by Holding Company “AvtoKrAZ” for new KrAZ truck models. It is less detailed and more informative than the previous one introduced in 1996.

C – vehicle type; 18 – carrying capacity in tons; 0 – modification, E – single-tire wheel (if the mark of the double-tire wheel is absent); X – all-wheel drive (if the mark of not all-wheel drive is absent).

To attract new clients, and with low budgets first of all, Kremenchug designers have worked out the so-called budget truck KrAZ-65055-038-02 preserving all qualities of the most popular dump truck KrAZ-65055-054-02 at the expenses of the design optimization lower than its cost.

The visitors of the exhibition could also see dump truck KrAZ-65055 (6x4) with carrying capacity of 18 tons, with cabin fundamental modernization, improved noise insulation, upgraded dashboard, heated and pneumatic adjusted seat, with height adjusted steering column. Besides, the dump truck is equipped with YAMZ turbocharged diesel of 400 h.p. capacity.

Among production models, there were dump truck KrAZ-65032-064-02 (16 cub.m), all-terrain vehicle KrAZ-6322-016-02 called “Soldier”, KrAZ-64372-044-02 (050-02), KrAZ-6233M6, mixer truck KrAZ-6233P4 (7cub.m), high-sided KrAZ-65053 truck with hydraulic manipulator and fire fighting truck KrAZ-5233H2 (АЦ-40) presented at the exhibition.
