Forestry needs KrAZ vehicles

Within the framework of carrying the board of Sumy Regional Management of Forest and Hunting Sector that took place on 21st of July 2009 the heads of forestry in Sumy region and of regional management were demonstrated the operation of log carrier road-trains KrAZ-6233M6 and Ural-4320 with manipulators OMTL 70-02 by “Velmash Ukraine”.

The special thing about the demonstration was comparing of two log carrier road-trains manufactured by different manufacturers.

The domestic log carrier road-train KrAZ-6233M6 became a winner against the basic indices: the fuel consumption per 1 m3/100 km of KrAZ-6233M6 was equal to 1.77 l and of Ural-4320 more than twice bigger – 4.5 l. KrAZ vehicle was capable to transport 40 cubic meters of timber and Ural – only 15 cubic meters.

Moreover, the absence of technical service, lack and high cost of spare parts added to the list of the Russian vehicle Ural disadvantages.

Foresters took with interest the new domestic product – log carrier road-train KrAZ-6233M6 with manipulator OMTL 70-02. Obsolescent and outdated ZIL and Ural vehicles extensively operated in logging enterprises do not ensure the necessary level of output capacity at the logging areas.

Lebedin forestry which served as a base for the board is still the only enterprise in Sumy region operating the new log truck KrAZ-6233M6. The forestry employees are pleased with the vehicle and its efficient work. According to them the payback period of log truck KrAZ-6233M6 will make 1.5-2 years.
