AvtoKrAZ reequips Ministry of Emergency Situations with high-performance emergency rescue equipment

From 30th September to 2nd October the International Exhibition Center of Kiev hosted VIII International Forum “Protection Technology 2009” organized by the Ukrainian Ministry of Emergency Situations and Population Protection from Chernobyl Disaster Aftermaths.

More than 90 enterprises and companies manufacturing fire-fighting equipment took part in the forum. Holding Company “AvtoKrAZ” presented the forum visitors a special-purpose vehicle intended for emergency management – fire tank-truck AC-40 (Pozhspetsmash) mounted on chassis KrAZ-65053 (6x4). Fire tank-truck AC-40 (65053)261 is equipped with engine Euro-2 and tank of 8000 l capacity; has modern systems control equipment, as well as fire-extinguishing equipment manufactured according to requirements of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Ukraine.

HC “AvtoKrAZ” exposition was attended by many exhibition guests, among those the Minister of MES Mr. Vladimir Shandra is to mention. He noted that various subdivisions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Ukraine had been operating KrAZ vehicles for a long time; they were familiar with that equipment, its high technical characteristics and efficient fire-fighting capabilities.

A keen interest to the vehicle AC-40(65053)-261 was expressed by chiefs of the main regional administration of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Ukraine. Namely, chiefs of Volyn’ and Rovny regions administration of MES of Ukraine Mr. V. Grushovinchuk and N. Kostiuk expressed their hope that such tank trucks would also start operating for their regional subdivisions of MES. They observed AC-40 (65053)-261 was a powerful vehicle and their subdivisions were in need of such equipment capable of carrying of the whole set of emergency rescue equipment. Chiefs of regional MES administration stressed old equipment was ineffective, had become obsolete and outdated a long time ago, it hampered a quick response to emergency. Apart from water it wasn’t fitted with any type of rescue equipment.

Today’s demand in new tank trucks of MES regional administration comprises about 50 pieces for each region. Another special equipment for emergency rescue work is needed as well.

Within the framework of “Protection Technology 2009” the first Kiev regional specialized center of dynamic response held demonstration exercises on loading and unloading of explosive substances by special-purpose pyrotechnical vehicle KrAZ-63221.
