New Ukrainian Self-Propelled Gun Based on KrAZ Chassis

Bogdana is a new Ukrainian self-propelled gun based on the 6х6 KrAZ?63221 chassis. Striking range of this self-propelled gun is up to 60 km, for the first time in Ukrainian artillery it has NATO caliber of 155 mm instead of Soviet-time caliber of 152 mm, on-board ammunition capacity of 20 shells, automated guidance and ammunition loading system.

The KrAZ?63221 chassis built at KrAZ in compliance with special technical specification is intended for installation of weapons and special guns. It has four-door five-seat cab with rows of seats. The cab has been armored for crew protection.  

It is provided with heating, air-conditioning, ventilation systems and windshield defog system, electrically heated windshield and door glasses. It is spacious enough to accommodate supplementary equipment: observation and night vision devices, radiation survey and chemical reconnaissance devices,  radio set, individual protective means, on-board ammunitions (in terms of seats in the cab) and personal effects of the crew.

The power plant of the KrAZ-63221 chassis includes diesel engine rated at 380 – 420hp.

The chassis is equipped with central tire inflation system for excellent off road ability on low-load-bearing capacity soils, winch, RunFlat system, blackout devices, filtering and ventilation unit, etc.

Reference fuel consumption is 37 l/100 km, fuel range with reference fuel consumption is 1200 km.

The new KrAZ-based armored self-propelled gun is to be unveiled at the parade on Independence Day in the capital.
